Really good day. I appreciate the ideals of The Write Fantastic in the goody bag to introduce new readers to Fantasy Fiction, but I cannot see the extracts appealing to my 14 year old son. I agree with the panel on “What is Alternative Fiction?” – if my son and his friends are anything to go by – teenage boys do not read Young Adult books either. Juliet McKenna was quite right to say that films and games are the way into reading today. The only full novel my son has read out of choice was a HALO tie in, because it was the only way he could discover back story he could not get from the Game itself. Genius.
